Versions of Roulette
There are two different variations of the game of roulette. There is the American version and the European version. The American version has a slightly higher house advantage as it has a double zero wheel, and the European version has a slightly lower house advantage because it has only a single zero wheel. However, regardless of what variation of the game you play, roulette offers players some of the best odds of any casino table game.
The Types of Bets in Roulette
There are two different categories of bets in roulette. There are inside bets, which are bets made by placing chips on one of the inside numbered boxes, and there are outside bets, which are bets made by placing chips on one or more of the boxes on the outside of the numbered boxes. The usual inside bets include: the Straight Up, a Split Bet, a Street Bet, the Corner Bet, and the Line Bet. If you want to play a larger combination of boxes then you will need to use the outside bet boxes which include: Column Bets, Dozens Bets, Reds, Blacks, Odds, Evens, Low Numbers, and High Numbers.
How to Play Roulette
The game of roulette is very easy to learn. The object of the game is to place your chip(s) on the number that the ball will land on. After placing your bet the dealer will call "no more bets." At this point no more bets will be allowed to be made or altered. The dealer will then spin the wheel and drop the ball. The ball spins around the wheel and when the wheel stops spinning the ball will land in a numbered slot. The number that the ball lands on is the winning number. If your bet includes the winning number then you win.
Roulette Payouts
The amount of money that you win will depend on what type of bet you make. If you place a Straight Up bet then your payout will be 35 to 1. If you make a Split Bet then your payout will be 17 to 1. If you make a Street Bet then your payout will be 11 to 1. If you make a Corner Bet then you will receive an 8 to 1 payout. If you make a six number bet then you will receive a five to one payout. If you make either a outside dozen or column bet then you will win two to one, and if you make an outside even money bet you will receive a one to one payout.
